Celebrating 20 Years of Helping CASA Kids

Welcome to
Family Law CASA’s virtual event.

Thank you for joining us to celebrate 20 years of advocating for CASA kids. We are excited to share four new videos with you about Family Law CASA’s work to give children a voice in court.

  • Emcee Angela Poe Russell, Evening Host and Reporter for KING TV, will get things started.
  • Washington State Supreme Court Chief Justice Steven C. Gonzaléz speaks to the importance of civil legal justice for kids and families.
  • Honoring 20 years, our founders share memories of their work to lay a strong foundation for protecting CASA kids.
  • And Rhe Zinnecker, this year’s Family Law CASA Community Award recipient, describes the progression and outcome of a case to demonstrate her work as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and the positive impact it makes on a child’s life.

You have made it possible to offer over 3,000 children a safer and more secure future. As we look to the future we hope you will be inspired to help many more children today and in the years to come.

Our Mission

We advocate for children in high-conflict custody cases, giving them the best chance for a safer, more secure home life, significantly reducing the risk of abuse and neglect.

Change a Child’s Life Today

Family Law CASA’s overarching goals are to prevent children from further traumas, promote the healing of families, and ensure each child is in a safe and nurturing environment so they can thrive. Having an impartial advocate whose sole purpose is to center the health, safety, and well-being of the children allows for the truth of complicated situations to be uncovered, abuse and trauma cycles to be disrupted, youth voices and needs to be prioritized, and people to be connected to needed treatments and services to heal.

With your help, we are committed to protecting the low-income youth of King County through our free child advocacy services. It only takes one small moment, one person’s small act of selfless kindness, to give our children the possibility to grow beyond their circumstances.

We need you now for their better tomorrow.

“Thank you for advocating for my daughter and her needs. The recommendations, findings, and testimony at trial were so valuable. Finally, my daughter is thriving and living without constant anxiety. I can’t thank you enough.” – CASA Parent

Keep CASA Kids Safe
Keep CASA Kids Safe

Your gift of $1,000 will be matched 200% – that triples your generous donation!

You will give a child an advocate to devote 100 hours of their time to ensure a child’s environment is free of trauma. Each advocate has the support of a supervisor and a program attorney, an entire CASA team that will use their experience to identify solutions and resources to help children feel safe.

Brighten a Child’s Future

Brighten a Child’s Future

Your gift of $600 will give a child the gift of a comprehensive, objective report to the court.

The report is drafted by the volunteer advocate and is the summary of between 60-100 hours of time spent looking into all aspects of the child’s life. This report becomes a part of the child’s file and will help a judge make the right decision for the child.

Your gift of $350 will be matched 100% – that doubles your generous donation!

You will connect each child to a trained advocate focused just on their needs. The advocate will visit the child in each home they spend time in, talk to their teachers, doctors, and any other important people in the child’s life.

“I can’t change the world. But I can change the world of this child. A child trapped in an abusive situation can feel alone and afraid. Having an adult who listens to you, who cares about you, is a lifeline – CASA is that lifeline.” –  CASA Advocate

Your gift at any level will help Family Law CASA create the best safety plan for each child.

“CASA makes a critical difference in a child’s life. By intervening into the very heart of a troubled family, volunteer advocates can help break the cycle of trauma and give the child a chance to fulfill their potential.” – Retired King County Superior Court Commissioner
